Surfing
The Basque country was where surfing was introduced to Europe. In the 1950s, a group of American surfers started surfing at La Côte des Basques beach in Biarritz - the South West coast of France is now the European capital of surfing.
Surf schools, board hire & surf shops
There are plenty surf schools and board hire can either be arranged at the many surf shops or in the summer months directly on the beaches.
